I know for a fact that my 5D Mk2 produces much higher resolution and sharper pictures than my iPhone!!ĭon't try to tell me I'm imagining this! The difference is very obvious.This image could have imperfections as it’s either historical or reportage. However photos imported from my iPhone and iPad directly into iPhoto display at full resolution and very good quality. So the major difference is the resolution. The two images take up similar physical dimensions on the display (the second one takes up a little more). Here (below) is a crop taken from Photoshop of the same JPG image at 100% zoom:

When viewing them in iPhoto or as a Wallpaper, most of the photos are very grainy and look noticeably pixelated on a retina display. I them imported these JPG files into iPhoto. The average file size was 7MB, and the image dimensions are all greater than 5000x4000 pixels. I exported JPG files at 100% resolution and 90% quality. I developed the sharped of these RAW images with 1) Canon DPP, 2) Adobe CameraRaw 3)Rawtherapee waterfalls with a Canon 5D Mk2 in 21 megapixel RAW format.
I'm running a 2014 MacBookPro with the latest version of iPhoto (as at September 9 2014). I am having the same problem as reported here.
